Two worlds connected by the Moon
Long ago, Gaia and Theia collided, twisting the very boundaries of existence. Gaia became Earth, and the remnants of Theia became the Moon. Bound to that Moon, yet in a separate dimension, lay the Twilight Realm: the world of yokai.
The Moon connected the two worlds, drawing them into stronger resonance when it was full. Where the boundary grew thin, yokai sometimes crossed into the human world. The traces they left behind became our legends.
Then, around five years ago, the boundary between the two worlds broke down, and parts of the human world and the Twilight Realm overlapped. Humans and yokai, who had rarely encountered one another, began sharing in each other’s everyday lives. Human culture and technology gradually found their way into the Twilight Realm.
Ancient legends and modern life coexist in the Twilight Realm.
